What it is
Prometheus is a Ukrainian online learning platform with free open courses, paid professional programs and free career programs, taught mostly in Ukrainian. Its site calls it "найбільша українська платформа професійного розвитку" (the largest Ukrainian platform for professional development), where learners find "онлайн-курси від найбільших роботодавців України та найкращих світових університетів" (online courses from Ukraine's largest employers and the world's best universities), along with scholarship programs. The home page counts 3,670,000 learners, 550+ online courses, 3,490,000 certificates issued and 11 years in education. Behind it is a civic organization, ГО «ПРОМЕТЕУС», which the FAQ names as a registered provider of professional development for teachers. The platform serves three readers: learners who want a free course or a new profession, teachers who need recognized professional development, and organizations that want a course built or their staff trained.
Free courses
The FAQ is plain about cost: "Масові відкриті курси Prometheus та сертифікація повністю безкоштовні. Курси Prometheus PLUS платні" (Prometheus's massive open courses and their certification are completely free; Prometheus PLUS courses are paid). Most courses are taught in Ukrainian and some in English. The popular free courses on the home page show the range: CS50 programming basics, English for beginners at A1-A2 level, first aid in wartime, getting started with ChatGPT, starting a business in uncertain times, web UI development, psychological first aid, a basic course for drone (UAV) engineers, modern military training, SMM fundamentals and a course on learning how to learn. Popular topics are IT, AI and data, English, business, courses for educators and military service.
A project called Всесвітній університет (world university) aims to put 50 courses from the world's best universities online in Ukrainian translation, free, over three years. The site explains that paid Prometheus+ courses fund the free ones and the translations, and the FAQ adds that the more paid courses sell, the more free courses the team can create.
How studying works
Courses run on the web and in Android and iOS apps. Learners work through video lectures and graded tasks, and each test has a set number of attempts, so a failed course cannot be retaken from the start, though all materials stay available for review. Progress and the minimum score for a certificate show on each course's Progress page. A learner who reaches that score generates the certificate in the course's final section as a PDF in their account. Certificates are electronic only, each with a unique number that confirms it is genuine. Courses translated from other platforms carry no instructor signature, and a few courses issue differentiated certificates. For paid programs, the home page promises mentor support: during the active phase the author comments on completed tasks and answers questions. The approach is learning by doing, with a job search road map, career mentoring, CV advice and first portfolio cases.
Recognition for teachers
This is where Prometheus stands out for its professional-ce membership. The FAQ states that "Сертифікати онлайн-курсів Prometheus для вчителів можуть бути офіційно зараховані як підвищення кваліфікації" (certificates from Prometheus online courses for teachers can be officially counted as professional development). It explains that the organization arranged its free teacher courses according to the procedure for professional development of teaching staff set by Cabinet of Ministers resolution No. 800 of 21 August 2019, as amended by No. 1133 of 27 December 2019. To meet those rules it approved the curricula of all its teacher courses, added the hours, form of study, competencies and other required details to course pages and certificates, and created a public registry where anyone can check a teacher's certificate by number or name.
Hours appear only on certificates of the courses listed for teacher development and on a short named list, including science communication in the digital age, dialogue and mediation, learning how to learn, the science of learning for education startup leaders, gender for everyone, protecting the rights of people with disabilities, and sex education. Because the courses are free, the FAQ says, teachers sign no contract.

Free career programs
Prometheus runs several free programs with partners. The Ukrainian Digital Bootcamp is a free program of 8 courses for Ukrainian entrepreneurs, implemented by the EBRD with Swiss funding. It includes CS50 Introduction to Cybersecurity from Harvard and leadership and advanced financial accounting from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, plus Excel for business, international payments, business models, AI in business, a business simulation game, guest lectures and consultations from partner banks, and an AI tutor that answers questions in real time. The page says more than 83,000 participants have already taken the earlier economic recovery bootcamp run by the EBRD and Prometheus. Under the heading "Наші спільні досягнення" (our joint achievements), next to partners such as INCO Academy, lifecell, SkyUp Airlines, OLX and EY, the same page reports "10+ запусків програм для українців" (10+ program runs for Ukrainians), more than 10,000 graduates, 100+ people employed in 2025 and "до 89% слухачів завершують курси" (up to 89% of learners complete the courses). Profession courses there include project manager with OLX, sales manager with SkyUp Airlines and Join UP!, and SMM manager with LOBODS.
Path to Work in the EU (Шлях до роботи в ЄС) is a free program of training and career support for Ukrainians already living in the EU, paid for by a grant from INCO Academy. The page names those countries as Poland and Germany, "в Польщі та Німеччині" (in Poland and Germany). The page puts its normal price at "від 250 €" (from €250) and its eligibility at more than four months' residence in the countries it covers, higher education, two or more years of experience in Ukraine and B1 English or B1+ in the local language. Training runs six weeks, from 15 October to 30 November 2026, in tracks for QA manual testing (built with GlobalLogic), HR management and project management, followed by career consulting until February 2027. The page reports 638 participants admitted, 472 who started and 276 who finished, and states plainly that the program does not guarantee a job. There are also free programs for veterans: career counseling and Ветеранське коло (Veterans' Circle), professional development for veterans and their families.
For organizations
The partnership page offers a full production service: instructional design, filming in a professionally equipped studio, subtitles, sign language and dubbing, assignments from tests to peer review and auto-graded coding exercises, gamification and educational games, and course hosting with SCORM, certificates and the mobile apps. The page places that studio "в серці Києва" (in the heart of Kyiv). Prometheus can promote a course by e-mail to its 3,000,000 registered learners and to 200,000 social media followers. It reports 700+ instructors it has worked with, more than 400 projects, an average of 21,000 registrations per course and an average graduate rating of 9.3 out of 10. Companies can also use the courses to train staff and monitor their progress, or commission a corporate learning system.
Who it suits and who it does not
Prometheus suits Ukrainian speakers who want free courses in IT, business, languages, first aid or military skills; teachers in Ukraine who need professional development hours on a verifiable certificate; career changers ready to pay for a structured program in QA, DevOps or data analytics; and entrepreneurs and Ukrainians abroad who qualify for the free bootcamp and EU programs. It also suits organizations that want a course produced and promoted to a large Ukrainian audience.
It suits less well a learner who does not read Ukrainian, since most courses are in that language. The free courses also limit test attempts, so a learner who fails cannot simply start over for a better grade.
