What It Is
CyL Digital is a Spanish-language digital skills program for people who want to get more confident with computers, the internet and everyday online services. It is a learner product, built around everyday digital competence rather than university subjects: office software, online government procedures, social media, online safety, digital health apps and online banking. The home page sums up what learners can do from home as "Cursos online, charlas en directo, certificación de competencias digitales online, asesoramiento tecnológico" (online courses, live talks, online digital competence certification, tech advice), adding that "Ahora tienes todo a tu alcance sin necesidad de salir de casa" (now you have everything within reach without leaving home). The site menu adds in-person training at local centers called Espacios CyL Digital, a self-study area (Autoformación) and a resource library, BiblioCyLDigital. Learners register for an account, then follow their enrollments under Mis cursos (My courses) and course notifications under Mis alertas (My alerts).
The Online Course Calendar
Online training runs through the program's Aula de Formación Online, a dated calendar of courses that learners can search by keyword, filter by a date range and theme, and sort by date in ascending or descending order. The six themes are devices and infrastructure, digital content creation, internet browsing and online procedures, security, social media and digital marketing, and communication and collaboration. Each listing shows the course length in hours, its start and end dates, and either a number of places or a MOOC label. Learners can switch on alerts for upcoming courses.
The courses listed for October 2026 show the range. Presentaciones con PowerPoint 2016 runs 35 hours from October 1 to October 29 with 300 places, and Procesador de textos Word 2016, a word processing course, runs 40 hours over the same dates with another 300 places. The longest item, "Soy competente digital: construye tu mejor versión digital" (I am digitally competent: build your best digital version), is a 250-hour MOOC running from October 1 to December 15, a broad route through everyday digital competence rather than a single tool.
Shorter offers sit beside these. Two webinars of 2 hours each are scheduled with 500 places apiece: "Vídeos formativos para docentes: graba, edita y publica" (training videos for teachers: record, edit and publish) on the morning of October 2, and Anima tus presentaciones con Genially, on animating presentations with Genially, on the afternoon of October 6. Three 20-hour courses run from October 6 to October 26 with 150 places each: one on using a digital certificate to complete procedures online, one on building charts in Microsoft Excel, and one on creating a web page with WordPress. A 10-hour MOOC on creating social media content with AI runs from October 8 to October 28. A Load More button below the list shows the calendar continues beyond these entries.
For a learner, this mix means a choice between short live sessions, focused three-week courses on one tool, and a long MOOC that covers digital skills as a whole. The places listed on most courses mean enrollment is capped, while the MOOC entries carry no place count.
In-Person Training and Local Centers
The online calendar is only half of the program. Formación presencial (in-person training) takes place in the Espacios CyL Digital, and the site also lists associated centers (Centros asociados), collaborating organizations (Entidades colaboradoras), technology volunteers (Voluntarios tecnológicos) and a Centro CyL Digital Agro. The WhatsApp page names local channels for the Espacios CyL Digital in Ávila, Burgos, León, Palencia, Salamanca, Segovia, Soria, Valladolid and Zamora, one per province.
Two home page features show what the in-person side covers. Aprende a utilizar SACYL Conecta teaches learners to use SACYL's health apps, SACYL Conecta and Carpeta del paciente (patient folder), in face-to-face workshops at the Espacios CyL Digital or from home through the website. Banca Online teaches safe and confident use of online banking, with simulators for practicing the most common operations before doing them for real.
Self-Study, Certification and Advice
Beyond scheduled courses, the site has three more services. Autoformación is a self-study area, and BiblioCyLDigital is described as "tu biblioteca de recursos digitales sobre tecnología y competencia" (your library of digital resources on technology and competence). The home page also features a guide for teachers on building digital competence for inclusion and diversity, and a news section with items such as a piece on handling bank business safely online. A separate ¿Dónde estamos? (where are we) section points learners to the physical centers, and an Iniciativas destacadas section covers the program's featured initiatives.
Certificación de competencias digitales (digital competence certification) is offered online, listed on the home page alongside the courses and live talks. The pages do not describe the format of the assessment or who issues the certificate.
Asesoramiento tecnológico (tech advice) is offered "presencial y a distancia" (in person and remotely). The home page frames it as help for anyone with a question about technology and says that "Contamos con un equipo de profesionales que estará a tu disposición para ayudarte" (we have a team of professionals available to help you).
Staying Informed and Getting Help
CyL Digital uses WhatsApp heavily. Its WhatsApp page explains that a general channel carries news, campaigns and offers of online courses, while "cada provincia cuenta con su propio canal de WhatsApp" (each province has its own WhatsApp channel) for the in-person activities in that area. Learners with questions can chat with the support team on WhatsApp, and the site also lists a contact form, a phone line, a FAQ page and accounts on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram.
Who It Suits
CyL Digital suits people in the provinces it covers who want practical, Spanish-language help with everyday technology: getting comfortable with Word, PowerPoint and Excel, completing online procedures with a digital certificate, using health apps and online banking safely, or building a first WordPress site. Teachers get targeted sessions on making training videos and using Genially, and anyone after a broad grounding can take the 250-hour MOOC. Learners who prefer a person in the room can use the Espacios CyL Digital, and those at home can combine online courses with remote tech advice. The site publishes no fees for its courses or services.
