What The Korean Academy is

The Korean Academy, which calls itself KORA, is a Korean language school built around one goal: getting students to study in Korea. Its home page promises structured programs, TOPIK-focused training and "a results-driven roadmap for university admissions in Korea", and it runs classes online and offline. Alongside the language courses, it mentors students through scholarship and university applications, especially the Global Korea Scholarship (GKS).

The academy says its history dates back to 2021, and the home page counts 5+ years of academic delivery. Its own figures describe a focused school rather than a mass-market app: 432+ students trained, 35 GKS scholars, 600+ class days, 1000+ language training hours, 169 students enrolled in 2024 and 7+ countries represented. The countries it names are India, Nepal, Bhutan, France, Spain and South Korea. The home page announces admissions open for its 2026 cohort.

Students, graduates and professionals are all eligible to apply, according to the FAQ, as long as they are targeting Korean proficiency, scholarship opportunities or study pathways in Korea.

The programs

KORA runs three main tracks, laid out in a comparison table on the home page.

The Fast Track Course is the intensive option. It runs 6-12 weeks, takes students from beginner to intermediate, and builds speaking confidence quickly through speaking labs, grammar drills and mentorship. One learner quoted on the page says "Fast Track helped me speak confidently in 6 weeks."

The 3 Months Course is the foundation track for new learners preparing for academic or professional life in Korea. It has a fixed three-month duration, covers beginner to A2 level, and aims at a strong language base. A foundation learner, Meera S., says: "This course gave me the foundation I needed for TOPIK prep."

TOPIK Preparation is the exam track, for intermediate to advanced learners. It typically runs 2-4 months depending on the target level, with targeted practice and strategy sessions built around TOPIK scoring goals and scholarship plans. The FAQ says KORA prepares students from foundational TOPIK pathways to advanced score-focused plans, with mock tests and personalized performance feedback. A TOPIK High-Score Batch was listed as a new exam-focused cohort with weekly mocks and strategy clinics.

Beyond the three tracks, the academy runs immersion camps. The KORA Spring Korean Immersion Camp 2026 combines live speaking practice, culture immersion and admission mentorship in one focused track, and a Summer Immersion Camp offers language and culture immersion places.

How teaching works

The home page lists what it says sets the academy apart. Language progression follows clear weekly milestones for speaking, grammar, listening and practical communication. TOPIK strategy is built into the courses with exam-driven practice, mock assessments and score improvement plans. Students get one-on-one mentoring checkpoints for progress, confidence and admission readiness, and they study alongside peers from several countries.

Coursework runs on Canvas LMS. The academy's LMS page explains that every student is personally invited to Canvas by the course instructor at the start of each course or term, and logs in with their registered email ID from a desktop or a phone. Canvas is where students find course materials, submit assignments, join discussions and track their progress. The page lists a centralized platform for all learning activities, timely updates on assignments, deadlines and announcements, interactive tools for collaboration, feedback and communication with instructors, and access to digital resources, lecture notes and multimedia content.

A student portal adds an ebook library, document downloads, exam results, class notices and pages on faculty, interns and alumni.

Admissions and scholarship support

Admissions mentoring is the second half of what KORA sells. The FAQ says the academy provides structured support for documentation, timelines, personal statements, interview preparation and scholarship positioning. Its scholarship mentoring covers statement review and interview preparation, with a GKS track and separate bachelor, master's and PhD pathways. The home page names GKS, Seoul National University, Yonsei University and Korea University among popular scholarship and university pathways.

The academy lays this out as a four-step roadmap to study in Korea: foundation Korean skills, TOPIK-focused preparation, application and documentation guidance, then university and scholarship readiness. Its admissions section repeats the idea from the student's side: choose a course track, get documentation guidance, prepare for interviews and exams, and submit. A GKS 2026 Prep Enrollment deadline was listed for joining the full mentorship track, and a free GKS + TOPIK Guide is available to download.

Fees

The site publishes no fees. The FAQ says fees vary by program track and mentorship depth, and that flexible installment options are available, along with guidance on which pathway gives a student the most value. Prospective students can book a free consultation, apply online or reach the admissions team by email or WhatsApp.

Results and reviews

The academy reports that 95% of learners say their speaking confidence is stronger within 3 months, and that its average learner satisfaction is 4.9 stars, also shown as its Google rating from learners and families. A Shining Stars gallery shows students' certificate achievements, and the site carries short video testimonials from students in the Fast Track and TOPIK programs.

The written reviews stress structure and mentoring. Rahul P. writes that "The classes are disciplined, engaging, and result-oriented." Babli Agrawal says "I improved fast because classes focused on real Korean use, not just theory." Aarav R. praises "Very supportive mentors and a clear course structure for TOPIK and study plans."

The academy also runs a news section with student stories, a Korean poetry writing competition and GKS updates, and a research and innovation section under its motto of language meeting research and innovation.

Who it suits

The Korean Academy suits learners for whom Korean is a means to a specific end: a place at a Korean university, a GKS scholarship, or academic and professional life in Korea. It brings the language course, TOPIK preparation and application mentoring together, so a student does not have to piece them together from separate providers. Beginners can start with the 3 Months Course or Fast Track, learners already at intermediate level can go straight to TOPIK preparation, and those aiming at bachelor, master's or PhD study can join the matching scholarship pathway.

It suits less well a casual learner who wants to pick up conversational Korean at their own pace, since the programs run in cohorts with weekly milestones, assignments and deadlines. Because fees depend on the track and the level of mentoring, the free consultation is where a student gets a figure.
