What Talaera is

Talaera is a business English training company for people who already work in English and need to communicate better in it. Its FAQ describes it as "a professional communication training and software company" that combines human coaching, AI practice, self-paced lessons and live speaking opportunities. It sells to two audiences: individual professionals, who can sign up for a plan themselves, and companies that roll training out to whole teams.

The focus is narrow by design. Talaera does not teach general English or other languages; its own comparison pages describe it as focused on business English rather than offering multiple languages. The home page names the people it is built for: engineers, customer-facing teams, managers, and high-potential employees preparing for senior roles. The FAQ adds that it supports all English levels, from A1 through C2, including people who already speak English well but want to sound clearer and more professional at work.

According to the company, Talaera has 12+ years of experience, provides training for international teams in over 100 countries, and was recognized with the 2024 Silver Award for Best Online Distance Learning. The home page says it partners with organizations such as Microsoft, Amazon and Salesforce.

The training formats

Talaera mixes coached and self-directed formats, and the product menu lists each one separately.

1:1 Business English coaching is the most personal option. The home page describes instructor-led coaching tailored to each learner's role and goals, with individual feedback, individual learning plans and flexible scheduling across time zones. It is pitched at people preparing for presentations, leadership communication and high-stakes conversations. The FAQ says 1:1 coaching programs typically run for 3 or 6 months, depending on the learner's goals and package. The company's comparison pages describe its coaches as certified instructors with business backgrounds, matched to learners through a selective process.

English & Culture Group Courses are 3-month structured tracks focused on key communication skills, taught in small instructor-led groups so each person gets more speaking time, with ongoing feedback from coaches. They are aimed at teams building speaking confidence and cross-cultural skills together.

Talaera Connect is the weekly live speaking format. The comparison pages describe it as weekly live speaking sessions with a coach, and elsewhere as weekly small-group Speaking Clubs with expert instructors for conversation practice and peer networking.

Self-paced learning covers the rest: short micro-lessons on workplace communication, AI conversation practice with Talk to Tally, and real workplace discussions with peers. Talk to Tally is the AI coach. The company says it lets you rehearse high-stakes meetings and gives instant feedback on clarity, confidence and tone, in practice bursts as short as five minutes between meetings, with no scheduling.

Two diagnostic tools sit around the training. The menu lists an English Assessment and a Communication Profile, and the comparison pages promote a free 10-minute Business English assessment to find specific areas to improve. Behind them, the company describes a proprietary 500-point communication framework, built by analyzing tens of thousands of coaching sessions, that measures workplace communication rather than grammar or vocabulary scores.

What the courses cover

The home page lists course areas built around situations where clarity affects business outcomes: Presentation Skills, English for Meetings, Cultural Intelligence, English for Engineers, Confidence Speaking, Executive-Level English, Customer Communication and Business Writing. The FAQ lists the same ground as skills employees can improve, adding leadership communication and cross-cultural collaboration. Each course card on the home page carries an outcome figure from the company, for example "27% increased impact" for Presentation Skills and "25% reduced time" for Business Writing.

The company also reports what its learners ask for. Among Talaera learners, it says, speaking is cited roughly twice as often as any other learning reason, and three of the top 15 courses on the platform focus on meeting participation. Outside the paid plans, the site publishes webinars, a newsletter, free guides, a blog, a podcast, case studies and a free idioms quiz.

For companies

For employers, the pitch is fast rollout and measurable results. The home page promises to "Deploy training in days, not months" and to show measurable improvement in English and intercultural skills within 60 days, with 85% adoption in the first month. The FAQ says companies can track learner engagement, satisfaction, communication improvement and progress over time, and the comparison pages mention team dashboards, progress tracking and business impact measurement. One testimonial from L&D at PayPal reads: "Your coaches are great, my employees felt they really connected. The HR dashboard is beautiful." A manager at CheckPoint adds: "I love that Talaera handles the training logistics from A-Z."

The home page headline figures are the company's own: 85% active in 30 days, 90% communication improvement, 60 days to visible impact and a 95% learner satisfaction rate. Its comparison pages add case study results for customer-facing teams, including 17% faster ticket resolution and a 2.7% increase in customer satisfaction scores. The same pages note that organizations track improvement through business metrics rather than traditional CEFR certification.

Prices

The company's comparison pages give the individual plans. Essentials starts at $8 a month for self-paced learning. Professional costs $20 a month and adds Talk to Tally and Talaera Connect, the weekly live speaking sessions. 1:1 Coaching starts at $50 for a trial session and includes personalized coaching plus access to all platform features. Teams get custom pricing with dedicated enterprise support and analytics, and companies can book a demo.

Individuals may be able to use an employer's budget. The FAQ says many professionals use their company's professional development budget, learning stipend or tuition reimbursement for business English coaching, with eligibility depending on the employer's policy.

Who it suits

Talaera suits professionals who can already work in English but lose impact in meetings, presentations, client calls or writing, and who want training built around those situations rather than general conversation. Engineers, customer-facing staff and managers moving into senior roles are the people the company names. Individuals on a budget can start with the $8 Essentials plan and add live practice at the Professional level, while those preparing for a promotion or a big presentation can book a coaching trial.

For L&D and HR teams, it fits companies that want one provider for coaching, group courses and self-study, with dashboards to show results. It suits less well anyone who needs a language other than English, since the company focuses only on business English, or learners who want an open marketplace with many tutors to choose from, because Talaera matches learners with a smaller, selected pool of coaches.
