Gymglish is an online language course for adults that teaches through a serialized story: every day you get a short episode of a comedy series in the language you are learning, followed by exercises, corrections and revision chosen for you. It is made by Aimigo, a company the site says was founded in 2004, and it covers five languages: English, French, Spanish, German and Italian. The audience is learners aged 16 and over, from beginner to proficient, and the site counts "More than 8 million learners worldwide". Gymglish sells to individuals by subscription after a free trial, and it also runs courses for companies, universities and public bodies.

The Learning Series

Each language is taught through its own story, which Gymglish calls a Learning Series, and each series has its own name. English is taught through Perfume California, French through Frantastique, Spanish through Hotel Borbollón, German through Wunderbla and Italian through Saga Baldoria. Every course has a trailer on the site, which is the quickest way to judge whether the tone suits you.

The site's tagline for the format is "A language, a culture, a story." The stories follow "the lives of quirky characters as they navigate through whimsical scenarios", and humor is part of the design: the homepage promises an episode "Infused with humor." The FAQ describes the content as "short, funny stories, exposing you to a diverse range of accents and the cultures in which the language is spoken."

Culture carries real weight in the lessons. The site lists what a series covers, "From traditions, social and professional life, to culinary delights, cinema, music, and accents", so a learner of Italian or Spanish picks up how people live and talk in the countries where the language is spoken, not only the grammar.

A daily lesson, step by step

The FAQ walks through what happens after sign-up. You start with the first episode of your series, which is "an original story followed by a series of exercises and an excerpt from a film, series or song in the language you are learning." After answering the questions you see your score of the day, followed by personalized explanations of what you got right and wrong.

The time commitment is small by design. The homepage speaks of "just 10 minutes per day", and the FAQ says "10 to 15 minutes a day are all it takes!" Each episode bundles questions, revision and corrections, so the review of older material happens inside the daily lesson rather than in a separate drill.

Personalization drives what comes next. In Gymglish's words: "Depending on your level, your interests, your goals and your revision needs, a new daily episode tailored for you, your motivation and your memory." The FAQ adds that the method is "powered by AI" and has been "tried and tested by 8 million users worldwide". The company's own summary lists the skills it trains as written comprehension, oral comprehension, grammar and vocabulary.

Speaking practice is part of the offer as well. Alongside the personalized written exercises and revision, the site says you build speaking skills "by chatting with the hero of your Learning Series." The character you follow in the story is the one you practice with.

Assessment and the certificate

Gymglish builds assessment into the course: "Level assessment at the start of the course, continuous evaluation throughout, and a certificate of completion once you finish the course." The company also says "We deliver training that leads to certification", based on that continuous evaluation. What the learner receives at the end is described as a certificate of completion.

Devices and apps

Lessons run "on your computer, tablet or smartphone whether through your browser or our iOS and Android apps". The homepage shows a rating of 4.7 on the App Store, Play Store and Trustpilot.

Prices, trial and cancellation

The homepage offers a "7-day free trial, no commitment to buy". On cost, the FAQ says "Prices start at just 14 euros per month." After the trial "you can choose your subscription plan that suits your preferred duration and desired features", and "Subscriptions plans and prices may vary based on course duration, language, and selected features." The full set of plans sits in Gymglish's online shop rather than on the homepage. The shop also sells Gymglish as a gift.

Canceling is simple: the FAQ says you click the "I wish to unsubscribe" link at the bottom of each lesson. With the trial and the unsubscribe link in every lesson, a learner can test the method properly before paying and stop without contacting anyone.

For companies, universities and educators

Gymglish has a business side of real size. The FAQ answers the question "Can I use Gymglish for my company?" with "Absolutely! We provide language lessons to over 6,000 companies, universities and public bodies!" Organizations are invited to explore the Business offers and book a demo with "our dedicated Corporate team". The site also has a section for educators, a partner program, case studies and white papers, and a page for its teacher and language school partners.

The company

Aimigo describes itself as "a team of 50 people (20 nationalities and 25 languages spoken)" with a passion for languages and innovation. It says "More than 8,000,000 users around the world have worked with us from private learners, to students to professionals", and the homepage announces "We are listed among Time Magazine's 2026 best EdTech companies in the world!" Support runs through a help FAQ, a contact page and a status page, and the site itself is available in many interface languages, from Dutch and Polish to Japanese and Ukrainian. Aimigo also offers a separate app, Aimigo Coach.

Free study aids sit beside the courses: grammar and vocabulary pages for all five languages, plus French, Spanish and Italian conjugators.

What learners say

Three learners are quoted on the homepage. Eliane B: "With Gymglish, you learn with a smile and the scenes are fun. The days without it feel like there is something missing!" Nicolai T: "I always look forward to my Gymglish episode, which for me, is my everyday's little break." Géraldine C: "It allows me to improve my skills in just 10 minutes a day. Now I can handle a conversation very easily."

Who it suits

Gymglish fits adults who want a steady daily habit rather than long study sessions, and who respond better to a story with characters and jokes than to a textbook. The company names its own audience: "Students, employees, retirees or job seekers", learning "for career purposes, before a trip / stay abroad (university exchange program) or before taking an exam". The beginner to proficient range means the same subscription can follow a learner a long way.

It is a strong option for HR and training teams too, given the business offer, the corporate demo and the scale of its organizational customer base.

The limits are those of the format. Five languages are on offer, so learners of anything else need a different course, and anyone who wants long daily sessions or live group classes with a teacher will find a 10-minute episode a light load. Plan prices beyond the starting figure are in the shop, so it is worth comparing durations there before the 7-day trial ends.
