Tap a star to rate
DataCamp is an online learning platform for data and AI skills, built around short videos broken up by in-browser coding exercises. It serves individual learners, students and teachers, and companies that train their staff. The pricing page says DataCamp is "Trusted by more than 20 million learners" and that 80% of the Fortune 1000 use it, and the About page counts 5,000+ companies, 3,000 academic organizations and learners in 180+ countries. Its stated mission is "to democratize data and AI skills for everyone." DataCamp, Inc. lists offices in New York, Leuven in Belgium and London.
What the catalog covers
The homepage promises in-demand skills "in Python, ChatGPT, Power BI, and more through interactive courses, real-world projects, and industry recognized certifications." The student page counts "over 790 data, AI, cloud, and software courses for all levels." Topic pages cover artificial intelligence, software development, data visualization, data manipulation, data engineering, data analysis, machine learning, data preparation, reporting, cloud, probability and statistics, and applied finance. Technology pages run from Python, SQL, R and Java to Power BI, Tableau, Excel, Alteryx, Databricks, Spark, dbt, Snowflake, AWS, Azure and Google Cloud, plus AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT and OpenAI, and Microsoft Copilot.
Introductory courses are short. Introduction to Python promises the basics of data analysis "in just four hours," Introduction to SQL teaches creating and querying relational databases "in just two hours," and Introduction to Tableau runs 6 hours. The AI shelf includes Introduction to AI for Work, Working with the OpenAI API, AI Agent Fundamentals, Hugging Face Fundamentals, Understanding Prompt Engineering and Developing LLM Applications with LangChain. Instructors come from industry; the student page names "leaders from Google, Meta, Microsoft, Databricks, Tableau, OpenAI, and more."
Career tracks and skill tracks
Courses are grouped into longer paths. Career tracks aim at a job: the homepage lists Data Analyst in Python (36 hrs, 255.8K learners, "No coding experience required!"), Data Engineer in Python (40 hrs, 99.4K learners), Data Analyst in Tableau (42 hrs, 50.9K learners), Data Scientist in Python (26 hrs, 27.8K learners), Machine Learning Engineer, and Associate AI Engineer for Data Scientists, which covers training and fine-tuning LLMs for production. The student page adds Associate Data Scientist (90 hours, 23 courses), Associate Data Analyst (39 hours, 11 courses) and Associate Data Engineer (30 hours, 9 courses, including PostgreSQL and Snowflake), each marked "Certification available."
Skill tracks are narrower: Python Data Fundamentals, SQL Fundamentals, Power BI Fundamentals, Data Literacy Professional, AI Fundamentals, and AWS Cloud Practitioner (CLF-C02), which prepares learners for Amazon's AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner exam.
How learning works
The format is interactive. "Short videos are broken up by interactive exercises. Practice new skills immediately to retain information," the homepage says, and the student page describes every course as "interactive, in-browser, and self-paced." The pricing FAQ confirms that all courses, coding exercises and projects run in the browser with no software to install. Beyond courses, the platform offers real-world projects, live code-alongs, competitions, skill assessments to find a learner's level, a professional profile and a portfolio of analyses, plus DataLab for working with data, cheat sheets and a large tutorial library on the blog.
AI help is built in. Several courses carry an "AI Tutor" label, and the homepage promises built-in AI support that runs "from tailored career advice to instant feedback and code explanation." The DataCamp mobile app for iOS and Android lets learners switch between desktop and phone, practice code, watch videos and take "daily 5-minute coding challenges."
Certifications
DataCamp runs its own certification program alongside partner certifications. The certifications menu lists AI Fundamentals, Data Analyst, Data Scientist, Data Engineer, AI Engineer and SQL Associate certifications, together with Power BI (PL-300), Azure (AZ-900) and AWS Cloud Practitioner certifications, and the pricing page advertises "Industry leading DataCamp and Partner Certifications." The student FAQ says the certification program "is included in our Premium subscription." Certificates for completed courses and tracks are part of the paid plans.
Plans and prices
The pricing page sets out four plans:
- Basic, free. It includes the first chapter of every course, all cheat sheets and tutorials, mobile learning, skill assessments, a profile and portfolio, live code-alongs and competitions, with limited practice exercises and projects. The FAQ is direct: "With our free account, you can only access the first chapter of our courses."
- Premium, for individuals, advertised as a "First Month Special" of $1 for the first month. It opens 790+ courses, career and skill tracks, certificates and certifications, employment-ready programs, course credits and priority customer support.
- Teams, for teams of 2 and up, at $28 per user per month billed annually. It adds an admin dashboard, license management, team performance reports and Google or Microsoft SSO.
- Enterprise, quoted separately, with personalized learning paths, custom tracks, a Skill Matrix, enterprise SSO (SAML 2.0), LMS/LXP integrations, customizable reporting templates and a co-branded landing page.
Students at degree-granting universities, colleges and schools get the Premium Student Plan: $164 a year against a regular $330, shown as 50% off, or $24 a month against $35, shown as 30% off. Prices can be shown in US, Canadian and Australian dollars, pounds, euros, Brazilian reais, Mexican pesos and rupees.
Billing terms are spelled out in the FAQ. Charges recur monthly or yearly from the sign-up date and "You can cancel at any time." Monthly subscribers can pause their account for a chosen period and pick up without losing progress, while "You cannot pause a yearly subscription." DataCamp also offers material to help learners get the cost reimbursed by an employer, including an email template.
Teachers and nonprofits
Teachers get the platform free. The homepage says "DataCamp Classrooms is free for you and your students," citing 1M teachers and students, 14K+ schools and "6 months of free access for every classroom." Once approved, professors can invite all their students and extend premium access to the whole class. The About page adds that DataCamp has partnered with more than 120 nonprofit organizations "to give 25,000 free DataCamp subscriptions to communities that need them most."
Who it suits
DataCamp suits career switchers who want a structured route into data analysis, data engineering or data science, with tracks that say no coding experience is needed and certifications at the end. It works well for professionals adding one skill, such as SQL, Power BI or LLM development, in short sessions, and for anyone preparing for cloud exams such as AWS Cloud Practitioner. Students get a steep discount, teachers get free classrooms, and companies can roll the same catalog out through Teams or Enterprise with admin reporting, SSO and LMS integrations.
It suits less well a learner who wants long-form lectures or live instructor-led classes, since the format is short self-paced exercises, or someone hoping to use the free plan for more than a taste of each course.
