What QuickStart is

QuickStart calls itself "the cyber workforce intelligence marketplace", a platform that links cybersecurity training, skills validation and hiring. Its home page puts the idea in one line: "The market doesn't lack training. It lacks proof of readiness." Learners build and prove skills, employers hire and develop staff against the same skills model, and the company sells online IT bootcamps and certification training alongside. The FAQ lists its users as "Cybersecurity professionals building a career, employers hiring and developing cyber teams, universities preparing students for real roles, and government and workforce programs measuring readiness." The company is QuickStart Inc., and its pages claim "35+ years building cybersecurity talent" and "over 35 years of experience training IT professionals for the workforce."

The products

Three products share one skills model. SkillsIQ is the build side: "One skills framework everywhere, from learning and hiring through to workforce readiness." HiringIQ is for employers who want to "Hire on proof, not résumés." AdaptIQ covers "Workforce intelligence and planning built on a shared view of the capability you hold." A fourth tool, Cyber AI Recruiter, "Automates sourcing and screening, and connects into HiringIQ."

Under them sit six shared capabilities: a Skills Ontology, in which "every role mapped to the skills it requires"; the Skills Wallet, "where skills, assessments, credentials, and completed learning are recorded as evidence"; AI Cyber Labs, "Hands-on environments where capability is practiced and demonstrated against realistic security work"; Skills Verification; Job Market Data "drawn from live hiring demand"; and a Cyber Talent Community where practitioners, learners and employers meet. On the hiring side, the FAQ says AI "scores candidates against the competencies a role actually demands and returns a breakdown a hiring manager can explain."

The process runs in eight steps: discover the roles and gaps, assess people through simulations and skill assessments, assign role-aligned training, connect to the community, validate against each role's competencies, hire, place people in roles, and give each team member a skills-based progression path. For companies with existing systems, QuickStart "is built to sit above the systems you already run rather than replace them", so skills data moves between applicant tracking, learning and HR systems.

Free tools for job seekers

Learners can start without paying. The free tools are the Skills Wallet ("Your free evidence layer"), a Cyber Career Assessment that "Returns a recommended role and a career blueprint built around it", a Cyber Skills Assessment that lists the capabilities you hold and the ones you lack, career pathways between roles, salary data by role, level and location, and résumé and profile tools. The FAQ draws the line: "Creating a Skills Wallet, assessing your skills, and exploring cyber roles and career paths are free. Skills validation and personalized learning paths are paid."

Certification training

The certification catalog can be filtered by area (cybersecurity, cloud, networking, project management, data and AI, IT support), by vendor and by level from beginner to advanced. QuickStart says it works "Through partnerships with leading technology vendors and certifying bodies", and the home page names training partnerships with AWS, Cisco, CompTIA and Microsoft. The catalog covers:

  • CompTIA: Security+, CySA+, SecurityX, PenTest+, SecAI+, Cloud+, Network+, Data+, DataSys+ and A+
  • EC-Council: Certified Ethical Hacker, Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator and Certified Security Analyst
  • ISC2: CISSP and SSCP
  • Microsoft: security, Azure, data, AI, Microsoft 365 and endpoint certifications, from fundamentals to Azure Solutions Architect Expert
  • AWS: Cloud Practitioner, Solutions Architect Associate and Security Specialty
  • Cisco: CCNA and CCNP Enterprise
  • PMI: PMP and CAPM, plus ITIL 4 Foundation

The programs are "designed to prepare you for the exam and the job", and "Every certification in our catalog connects to a SkillsIQ pathway." Each completed certification "contributes validated skills to your Skills Wallet." The certifications themselves are awarded by the vendors; QuickStart provides the training. The catalog page lists no prices, and learners and teams use a "Speak With an Expert" form to choose a path.

Online IT bootcamps

The bootcamps page lists programs in cybersecurity, software engineering, data and IT support:

  • Cybersecurity Bootcamp, 10 or 18 weeks, starting at $8,900, with training in "hardware, operating systems, networking, programming in Python and more"
  • Cybersecurity Engineering Bootcamp, 15 weeks, $8,900, a part-time cohort with hands-on labs plus SOC simulation, a final capstone and certification prep
  • AI-Centric Software Engineering Bootcamp, 11 or 19 weeks, starting at $8,900, covering computer architecture, data structures and algorithms, and web development
  • Data Analytics and Visualization Bootcamp, 10 or 18 weeks, starting at $8,900, with Transact-SQL, Excel, PowerBI, Python, NumPy, Matplotlib, Seaborn and Pandas
  • AI-Centric Front-End Software Engineering Bootcamp, 11 weeks, starting at $5,000
  • IT Technician Bootcamp, 12 weeks, $3,995, with virtual office hours with a mentor
  • Network Engineering Bootcamp, 18 weeks, $8,900

The FAQ sums up the cost: the full-time bootcamp costs $12,000 and the part-time option $8,900. Every price carries a pre-pay discount, and the page mentions "Financing partners, prepay discounts and payment plans." Part-time cohorts get instructor-led sessions twice a week, hands-on labs, capstone projects, peer collaboration and a 20-25 hour weekly commitment. The full-time program "requires an average time commitment of 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, for 10 weeks", and QuickStart recommends that full-time students not work during it. The format mixes "video-based lectures, virtual instructor-led training, hands-on labs, on-demand tutoring and more."

Graduates get "an official certificate of completion from Quickstart." The bootcamps "prepare students for entry-level roles", and career counselors help with "resume building, mock interviews, and internship/job opportunities", along with a career platform and one-on-one mentorship. The bootcamp page shows 168 enrolled students and 454 completed courses. Prerequisites are basic computer skills (file management, software installation and system navigation), and the system requirements call for a Windows 10 or 11 or macOS 11 machine with 8GB of RAM at minimum. A refund policy is linked from the FAQ.

Support

Support runs by email, live chat and phone, Monday to Friday from 9AM to 6PM Central. The footer also links Credly Official Validation, a referral program and an employer Recruit-Train-Deploy partnership.

Who it suits and who it does not

QuickStart suits career changers who want a structured, instructor-supported bootcamp with career services, IT staff preparing for a specific vendor exam, and employers who want hiring and training to use the same skills model. Universities and public workforce programs are named audiences too. The free Skills Wallet and assessments give a newcomer a low-cost way to see which cyber role fits before paying for training.

The bootcamps are a real investment of money and time, so they suit people ready to commit 20-25 hours a week, or full days on the full-time track. Learners who just want one certification course will need to ask for a price, since the catalog does not list them.
