What 7Sage is
7Sage is an online LSAT prep company for people applying to law school. Its core product is a monthly subscription to a self-paced course, and around it the company sells live classes, one-on-one coaching, private tutoring, group classes and law school admissions consulting, plus SAT/ACT tutoring and college consulting for high school students. The home page calls 7Sage "the first fully digital LSAT course" and says the company has "helped more than 500,000 students achieve their law school dreams." It also states that 7Sage "is the only LSAT prep course with multiple explanations for every LSAT question, including short written analyses and in-depth videos."
The company grew out of its founder, J.Y. Ping. The home page tells the story in two lines: he started posting free LSAT tutorials to YouTube, they were taken down by the company that owns the LSAT, and he then decided to make it a company. A Reddit AMA reproduced on the page has him describing "a social enterprise LSAT prep company to deliver a better learning experience while lowering costs." The FAQ says the content creators have been teaching the test "for a collective four decades."
The self-paced course
Every subscription is built on the same self-paced material. The Core plan lists 900+ bite-sized video lessons covering LSAT logic and strategy from the ground up, which the site pitches both as an introduction for beginners and as a quick reference for students pushing into the 170s. Practice runs on official tests: all 80+ released LSATs are available, and students who have already taken some on LSAC's LawHub can import their results in one click or enter them by hand. Each question on every released test has several explanations, namely written analyses, answer-choice breakdowns and in-depth video walkthroughs, and the home page adds answer-choice snippets, low-res summaries and stimulus highlighting to that list.
The study scheduler is the backbone of the course. An adaptive algorithm builds a plan around the student's schedule and learning style and adjusts it as they make progress; the sample plan on the home page splits three months into Foundations, Logical Reasoning, Reading Comprehension, Practice and a pre-exam phase. A performance analytics engine breaks down every answered question to show where a student is losing points, and smart drills turn those findings into one-click practice sets that adapt to the student's level.
7Sage also has an AI layer. Sage AI analyzes practice performance, recommends what to study next and answers questions about tricky LSAT items. The site says it is built on the 7Sage explanation library, trained by its instructors and familiar with each student's performance data, and calls it "your 24/7 virtual tutor." All three plans include it, with higher limits on Live and the highest on Coach. A discussion forum with study groups lets students swap strategies, ask and answer questions and find study partners.
Live classes, coaching and tutoring
The Live plan adds instruction in real time. Students drop into live sessions on Zoom led by 99th-percentile instructors; the site counts 12+ sessions per weekday and 60+ per week, covering every question type from conditional-reasoning fundamentals to the hardest items, and the sample schedule also shows score-release office hours and "Ask an Admissions Officer" sessions. Live members get weekly timed, proctored practice tests, drop-in office hours with instructors at no extra charge, and a library of 3,000+ recorded classes sorted by topic and difficulty. The "Ask a tutor" button on any question sends it to a 99th-percentile-scoring LSAT expert, who replies with a personal written explanation within 24 hours.
Coach includes everything in Live and pairs the student with one dedicated 99th-percentile coach for the whole course of study. It opens with a 30-minute intro and diagnostic session, followed by two 30-minute sessions a month, which the page values at $349. The coach sends a weekly accountability email, sessions can be booked the same day, and unused coaching time rolls over for up to a year. Coach members' "Ask a tutor" questions jump to the front of the line. The page notes that 7Sage caps Coach enrollment to protect coaching time.
Outside the subscriptions there are two more formats. Group classes are seminar-style courses taught by 99th-percentile scorers, with a set schedule and a cohort of classmates, ranging from 2-week bootcamps to 12-week intensive programs, and they include the Live plan. Private tutoring is one-on-one with a dedicated 172+ scorer who diagnoses weaknesses, reviews practice tests and builds a plan around the student's analytics; packages start at $1,099 for 5 hours and include a free assessment session. The tutoring menu also offers SAT/ACT tutoring, and the admissions side works with former admissions officers and professional writers on application strategy and essays, with a free consultation to start.
Plans and prices
The home page prints all three subscription prices. Core costs $69 a month. Live is listed at $129 a month, with a limited-time first month at $79 that then renews at $129. Coach costs $299 a month. Each plan also requires an LSAC LawHub Advantage subscription, which LSAC charges at $124 a year; the site stresses that "the fee goes to LSAC, not 7Sage." Students who already bought LawHub Advantage through LSAC or another prep company can connect it to their 7Sage account instead of buying it again, and those who have not can bundle it with a self-paced plan.
Discounts are spelled out in the FAQ. Students with an active LSAC fee waiver can join the Fee Waiver Program by uploading their approval PDF, which lets them subscribe for as little as $1 a month and gives 50% off courses, 30% off tutoring and 10% off admissions services. Anyone who served in the American or Canadian military gets 25% off any 7Sage LSAT service.
There is a free way in as well. The free trial gives sample lessons, two PrepTests and 200+ explanations, and the page says no credit card is required. The free resources page goes further: a 5-question diagnostic, sample questions from released tests, a full-length timed practice test, a 12-week study plan built entirely from free material, free live classes, browser games that drill conditional logic, quantifiers and flaw-spotting, explanations for every released LSAT question, Logical Reasoning and Reading Comprehension question-type guides, a score converter and a conditionals cheat sheet. The site also publishes law school admissions resources, including a predictor, a GPA converter and law school rankings and stats.
What students say
On results, the FAQ says "our students regularly report 10-20+ point improvements, and many have scored in the 170s after starting in the 140s," which is the company's summary of student reports, not a promise. The home page shows a 4.9/5 rating from 967 reviews and quotes reviewers at length. Juan, reviewing on TrustPilot, calls 7Sage "very straightforward, super simple interface, simple pricing structure, no distractions." Kai writes: "7sage provides the curriculum that I needed to succeed. The UI is easy to learn and operate, and the content is well detailed and thorough." Melanie, studying while working full-time, says "the 7sage format is absolutely perfect." The FAQ is also frank about the work involved: "This test is a grind."
Who it suits
Core suits a self-motivated LSAT taker who wants a full curriculum, every official test and explanations in several formats at the lowest monthly price, and the FAQ itself says Core is ideal for students who prefer their own pace. Live fits someone who studies alone most days but wants a live class or office hours when stuck, and the 24-hour "Ask a tutor" turnaround helps with questions the written explanation does not settle. Coach and private tutoring are for students on a plateau who want one person tracking their progress; the FAQ says many students combine a Live subscription with a 5-hour tutoring package. Fee-waiver holders and veterans get sizable discounts through the programs above.
The caveats are practical. The LawHub Advantage fee comes on top of every plan, so the first-year cost is higher than the monthly price alone. Coach spots are capped, and private tutoring is a large outlay for a handful of hours. The self-paced course and the classes cover the LSAT only; SAT/ACT help comes as tutoring. For a law school applicant who wants depth of explanation and the choice of adding live help later, 7Sage covers the whole range from free practice to a personal coach.
